Life and our technology

There is so much information on technology in the news etc but what about our everyday lives? How has technology helped you personaly and what affect has it had on your life?

ICT has impacted massively on my life over the past 10 years. In such a short period of time, relatively speaking, I have seen lots of everyday activities being replaced with ICT. For instance, I rarely visit a bank as I do all my banking online, the only time is to lodge cheques but this is not very often anymore as most transactions are carried out through bank transfers. I don’t shoo online for basic groceries but I do shop for one off items, e.g. Sporting goods, shoes etc.. My job is heavily reliant on ICT, not just in the classroom itself but also to enhance communication internally and externally.

Without technology, I think I would be lost!
It helps me with my school work, and keeps me in contact with friends and family.
I mean, without Skype, I wouldn’t be able to see my mam until Easter, which would suck. And I use my phone daily to text my friends.
I shop online for clothes and books – books mainly, as there are so many good deals.
I think for my future, my job will be mainly based around ICT as I am considering becoming a teacher.

Do you buy online books? Why? Why not?

Ew! No! Online books are a NO NO!
I like to actually own books, because:
        1. They look pretty.
        2. They smell nice.
        3. You can’t get lost in a Ebook. It is too technical. With a proper book, you can get lost for hours.

MAY sound weird, but it makes sense to me!
I have never owned, and will never own an online book!

Your’re right, my iPad doesn’t have a smell at all. That’s technology for you.

Do you buy your music online? If so, do you not like to own the pretty cover from the CD?

Have you ever thought about publishing your own stories online?

I do buy music online, as it is easier to store onto my ipod.
THIS IS NOT HYPOCRITICAL! As I have a valid reason – CDs are annoying to store, and I don’t think they look pretty – plastic! Urgh.
And you have to be GOOD at writing to do that sir. Maybe after my English courses. But lol!

Personally technology has a big affect on my life, as alot of my family live up in scotland such as aunts and uncles it makes it alot easier to communicate with them and also instead of ringing someone to ask them to come out on a night you can just post something on their wall on facebook etc.
Also new technology such as software which is available to us in school to use on our course makes everything so much easier to do such as designing products etc.
All though I think that technology is starting to take over our lives and as we discused in class about people being teached at home in places such as Australia, then alot of peoples jobs will be in danger if things like that keep growing.

ICT is becoming more and more advanced and I believe that the future of ICT has so much potential, i blieve we will create artificial inteligence with a full understanding of all languages and will be able to carry out any full convosation with a real user
